What We Teach

Year 1 - Foundations of Linework (310 Hours)

Power Line Worker Safety (22.5 hrs) - Safety protocols for electrical, flash, trenching, confined spaces & substation entry.

Intro to Electrical Circuits & Theory (15 hrs) - Basics of DC circuits, Ohm's Law, grounding, bonding & test equipment.

Pole Climbing & Rescue (120 hrs) - Climbing wooden poles & steel structures, pole-top rescue, and environmental hazards.

Tools of the Trade (10 hrs) - Hands-on with hot sticks, crimpers, cutters, pneumatic & power-actuated tools.

Aerial Framing & Hardware (80 hrs) - Installing guys, cross-arms, transformers, and conductors.

Utility Equipment & Rigging (27.5 hrs) - Operation of digger derricks, bucket trucks, cranes, and rigging communication.

Pole Setting (27.5 hrs) - Pole transport, installation and removal.

Electrical Test Equipment (7.5 hrs) - Use of high-voltage detectors, phasing sticks, megohmmeters, and more.

Year 2 - System Operations & Distribution (158 Hours)

Power Line Worker Safety (22.5 hrs) - Safety protocols for electrical, flash, trenching, confined spaces & substation entry.

Year 3 - Advanced Linework & Leadership (145 Hours)

Substations & Live-Line Work (50 hrs) - Substation components and hot stick techniques.

Three-Phase URD & System Protection (32.5 hrs) - Vaults, manholes, transformer configurations, and system diagrams

Troubleshooting & Smart Grids (42.5 hrs) - Fault location, smart grid integration, and system diagnostics.

Crew Leadership (20 hrs) - Leadership styles, communication, safety, planning, and performance tasks.
